Only in photographs from the beginning of the century is it possible to admire dense groups of monk seals basking along the coasts of Liguria or in Orosei in Sardinia. Then the collapse of the population caused by illegal hunting, coastal development, marine pollution and accidental fishing. DoDo can't help but hold this iconic pinniped in the heart of its green mission, supporting the efforts of the WWF Italia in support of such a fragile species.

DoDo renews its commitment to the environment and biodiversity by supporting the activities of the WWF ITALIA that are aimed at preserving an iconic species of our seas.
Since 2023, the WWF Italia has united with Gruppo Foca Monaca (Monk Seal Group) in an exciting and educational mission along the coast, in the grottoes and in the open sea, searching for secret places where monk seals take refuge during their months of rest and reproduction. The WWF researchers and guides of the Vele del Panda project, together with volunteer divers of the WWF S.U.B., carefully trained in the use of detection kits, collect sea water samples to analyze environmental DNA, a cutting edge technology that allows detection of traces of monk seals in their natural habitat.
These activities, arranged by the WWF Italia to carefully follow the evolution of the presence of this mammal in our seas while also monitoring the state of marine biodiversity, fall into a group projects supported by a non-invasive scientific methodology that DoDo supports, renewing its 18 year commitment alongside the WWF. Researchers, volunteer divers, citizens and other organizations who hold nature close to their hearts have given rise to a new community based on collaboration, education and awareness.
